"make new friends and keep the old"

I think Jamie and I both had an unspoken fear that when we started having kids our social life would be over! But we were talking last night about how since Audrie's been born it seems we've been blessed with so many new friends. We feel so grateful that God has always brought special people into our life.

This is my friend Leigh Fox who is due with her baby girl in 5 more weeks. (Leigh is such a special friend to me, because I first met her when I had just found out I was pregnant and she would always say sweet prayers for my growing belly.) Audrie and I went to visit her today and took her a onesie that I made for her baby...

(Get it...? her last name is "fox"!)
I've gotten a little carried away with the baby shirt making lately and made this one for our neighbor's little baby boy... (I swiped this photo off their blog... thanks, Becca!).Jamie and I have never been very social neighbors (mostly because we were never home) but since I've been home on maternity leave and now, with the baby, Jamie & I try to spend more evenings at the house- we've been able to get to know many of our neighbors. I've also been going to the gym a few times a week with a girl down the street and spending time visiting with other young mom's in our neighborhood. It makes me realize I should have been getting to know all these great people two years ago when we moved in! It's strange how it took having a baby to help us slow down and take time for new friendships.

But, of course, we still love our dear "old" friends Jason and Sam- we are SO very excited about their upcoming visit! Guys, we tried to reserve this fine establishment for your visit since we know it has sentimental value for you...

... but it was all booked up, so it looks like you'll be in our guest room again for the week!

And thanks, Mel, for inviting us over tonight! As sad as I am about going back to work next week and being away from Audrie *sob*- I really am looking forward to seeing my longtime friend/ work wife, Melanie, again everyday in our office!
So keep me in your prayers as I prepare to drag myself away from Audrie next week to go back to work! (I'm telling myself it's going to be ok because it's only for 3 weeks and Jamie's mom is going to be watching/spoiling Audrie during the day). But still, I'm sure I'll be crying more tears than Audrie will...!
