We've had so many people tell us "call me if you need a babysitter" and I sure don't hesitate to take them up on the offer! We like for Audrie to get used to being around other personalities and realize that her world won't end if mommy and daddy aren't in the room. Our friend, Gloria, was nice enough to hang out with Audrie the other night so Jamie and I could go see a show at the Walton Arts Center. (It was also the same day Audrie had gotten shots in both legs so she wasn't her usual self, but Gloria is a natural around babies so we weren't worried at all.) And my friend, Melanie, watched Audrie for a few hours while I attended a workshop for my school district. I think Mel had fun spending some one-on-one time with Audrie and I loved letting them get to know each other better. We've had other friends watch Audrie from time to time, too. It is definitely nice having people in our lives who are comfortable babysitting a little baby and love spending time with Audrie. I don't know if the offers will still stand when Audrie is running around the house, coloring on the walls and flushing stuffed animals down the toilet, but for now we love having a great list of people we can count on!
