food, family & fun for the Fourth

Jamie, Audrie and I spent our Fourth of July weekend back home with our families. It's always tough trying to fit both of our families into one holiday weekend, but it was worth it to get to see everyone! My side of the family gathered at my brother, Eric's, house and we spent the afternoon talking with everyone and playing a few serious games of ping pong!
And a game called "Ladder Golf"... where you try to throw these golf balls on a rope and land them on the rungs for points. I'm terrible at this game! Here is my dad holding Eric's boy, Matthew, the "newest" grandbaby. (#20 for my parents!) Matthew is two months younger than Audrie but he weighs more than her!!

Eric has two other daughters that are just as cute as can be!

And of course my brother Caleb is as cute as can be, too! :)
My mom and Audrie in their matching 4th of July colors...

And I thought this sign on Eric's garage door was appropriate- especially because as we were leaving they were just setting up the 100 foot homemade slip-n-slide. (I'm kind of sad we didn't get to stay for that!) As we were leaving and saying bye to everyone, I couldn't find my dad... then someone finally realized that he had snuck off and was napping in my three year old niece's room! He totally looked like Papa Bear asleep in Goldilocks bed... ("and this bed was just right")!
That evening we went to Jamie's family gathering for tons of food, fireworks and home made ice cream. We finally got to meet the newest cousin who is just a few weeks old. He is so sweet!

A rare photo of Jamie and his sister. (She really doesn't like having her photo taken...) But neither does their mom, but somehow I managed to sneak one of her too!
The kids were enjoying a game of frisbee in the yard. (Another game I'm not so great at.)
The girls took some of the babies for a walk... it was such a nice night!

Dylan LOVED riding in his wagon!
Audrie liked the stroller too, but really she just loves being outside anytime!
She didn't even seem to mind when the boys started their fireworks.
Why do boys love fire so much??
Boys of all ages...!
The city fireworks were farther off this year, so Audrie wasn't scared.
And I just couldn't seem to figure out how to capture them on my camera, this is the best I could do... but they really were beautiful! It was a fun night! The rest of the weekend we did alot of this at Donna's house....

We got home Sunday in time to enjoy an evening at the Drive-In Movies with some friends. (Seemed like a very "American" way to wrap up our patriotic weekend.)

Hope all of you had a wonderful Fourth of July, too!
