country girl at heart

I guess most of you know that Jamie and I are from the same small country town of Green Forest. Population about 2500. As I'm getting OLD and looking back on my long life (ha!) I realize there is a lot I miss about living in the country. Ok, so CAVE SPRINGS is not exactly a booming metropolis but... I don't live on a dirt road anymore and if it rains too hard I can still get into town! Sometimes I worry about raising kids in "the city" and Audrie going to a school system where there are a thousand students in her grade. (I had 69 students in my graduating class!) Anyways, it was nice this weekend to get home to Green Forest and let Audrie get some country-fied-ness (and a taco pie from Jim's Drive-In!). We were only in Carroll County about an hour and Audrie was already dancing in the back of a pickup truck...! Maybe she will be a country girl after all.
And Donna had been saving up a huge gigantic burn pile in her yard for all the boys to set fire to. She actually had to call the fire department and warn them that her house wasn't the thing going up in flames.

A quick game of football in between the fire poking.

Audrie misses her Grandma Donna!

Audrie got pretty dirty playing in the garden so naturally what does a country girl do... take a bath in the rain bucket!

Who needs TV when you have excitement like this??
