I'm starting to get that excited and nervous feeling about starting a new school year! I really can't wait to get started next week. I just remember when I was a kid how I was so anxious walking in that first day of school with my new pencils and notebooks and my outfit I'd picked out weeks ago. It's kind of crazy that as a teacher I still feel that wonderful nervous excitement each year.
I'm going up to my classroom a few hours in the evening this week to work on organizing my room, selecting music for the year, lesson plans, decorating, etc. My friend Melanie (aka my "work wife") came up tonight and we spent a few hours working in our office. It's going to be great to get to see her every day again. I've missed seeing her "cheery" morning face each day... ha!
Our classrooms got new carpet over the summer, so my room is in shambles. Stuff piled everywhere. But it will be fun getting everything set up for a new year! Our music office is piles of boxes, too. And the storage closet is out of control! But Mel and I worked hard tonight and got most of it cleaned and back to some level of normalcy. At first we couldn't even barely open the door of the closet... I really do love my job. Of course being a teacher has it's major downsides at times, but I praise God that he guided me to a profession that I feel passionately about. I can't wait to see all my students and teacher friends again! It's going to be a fun year. I can already tell. At least according to my source of wisdom...
... the magic 8 ball in our office said "all signs point to YES".
