new member of the family

When we took the girls to sit on Santa's knee at the mall, they both told him they wanted another kitty for Christmas...?!
We had been thinking of getting a friend for our first cat that we got in July, so we decided to go for it.
We used the same rescue shelter as before and the wonderful lady helped match us with THE sweetest little white kitten (part Siamese and Snowshoe).
We named him Olaf (from the movie, Frozen, and because he's white like a snowman).
And we love him.

He is very gentle and patient with the girls.
At first, Marla, our other cat, wasn't too sure about the new addition. She hissed for a couple days. And honestly, I wasn't sure it was going to work out.

But then about the third or fourth day, they became the best of buds. Now they play and nap together. Inseparable all day. It's pretty cute.
Welcome to the family, Olaf!

i love snow days!

Audrie came squealing into our bedroom at 7:30 this morning, "MOMMY!!!! DID YOU SEE OUTSIDE?!!! LET'S GO PLAY IN THE SNOW!!!!!!".  I tried to roll over and give her some excuses, but then Jamie reminded me of that song from the new Disney movie, Frozen, where the adorable little girl sings "do you wanna build a snowman?" and no one will play with her. Heartbreaking little song.

So I got up and spent 15 minutes getting us all bundled up. Jamie left for work. So it was just me and the girls outside at 7:45am. We managed to stay outside for about 20 minutes before their faces were freezing enough to come back in. While we were out there I did try to build a snowman, but the snow is really powdery so I didn't have the patience for it. I told them we would try again when daddy gets home.

When we got back in I let Audrie make her own cup of cocoa and she got more on the table than in her cup, but she didn't care. Miss independent. :)

We actually went back outside again about an hour later when we saw our neighbors out there. But I'm hoping now we can stay inside, build a fire, and cuddle until Jamie gets home and he can take over the snow playtime!
