Audrie had her four month doctor visit today (and shots...boo!) but it went great. I was excited to see how much she had grown because everyone keeps saying how tall she is getting. And oh my goodness... this girl has definitely stretched out! She grew 2 and 1/2 inches in a month!! She's now 26 inches- which is the 95th percentile for her age. The nurse came back in the room to measure her again because she thought she made a mistake, but it was correct. The nurse couldn't believe it. Audrie only gained half a pound (she's 14 pounds now- 50th percentile) but has been eating so much lately that I knew she must be having a growth spurt. The doctor said Audrie's eating pattern (8-9 ounces every 4 hours) is really wonderful and will help her transition easily into toddler meals. They said we should hold off feeding her rice cereal or baby food for now unless she stops sleeping all night. So for now we'll stick with breastmilk until she seems more ready for food. The nurse also told me that I had a very mellow baby (which is ironic because her appt was right when Audrie normally eats and I had woken her up early from a nap to go- so she was tired and hungry... but still being as cute as button). Jamie and I wonder sometimes if we really are just blessed with an "easy" baby or if it has to do with Baby Wise.
When we first found out we were pregnant a co-worker of Jamie's told us about Baby Wise. And at first I was little skeptical because the research I came across had some controversy. But we ordered the book and read it and loved it. So Jamie and I decided to try it with Audrie and just see how it went. And wow- we are so pleased with the results so far. I have several mommy friends who use Baby Wise, too, and it's nice to be able to talk with them about it all. Of course, it's not for everyone and I never try to impose our strategies on other parents, but all we know is that we love it and it's worked so well with Audrie.
