Game Night II

Jamie and I hosted Game Night II at our house Friday night for a group of friends. Even though the girls lost, it was still a great night of food, drinks and laughter!

Of course I had to have my camera snapping away... I am unashamedly addicted to taking pictures. (is there a help group for that??)

Ok, Shannon made these things called "Pickle Wheels" that sound strange, but are amazingly tasty!

I made Chocolate Dipped Oreo Balls that my friend Carrie gave me the recipe for and I lost count of how many I ate. So declicious!

Hopefully we'll get together soon for a rematch!

a funny story

I had some flashbacks today of when I was in 2nd grade and I used to pick up my little sister from kindergarten and her teachers would hand me a plastic sack with her pee soaked clothes. (Apparently she wet the bed each day for nap time and I was the one who had to carry that lovely sack on the bus every day...!) Well today Audrie had a similar incident. I've been slowly trying to get back into the routine of working out again. They have child care at our gym so I sometimes take Audrie during her afternoon naptime. So I dropped her off today and she was happily sleeping. But when I came back in an hour, she was still asleep... but wearing only a diaper. The ladies handed me a plastic sack with her clothes. They told me that a few minutes after I went to work out, Audrie had pooped all over the place and I hadn't brought any extra clothes for her (I really didn't think in one hour she would do that much damage...). Well, to make matters worse, I really needed to go to Walmart to pick up just 2 last minute items for a get together we're having. And I didn't want to drive all the way home, dress Audrie and then drive all the way back to Walmart for just 2 things. So, I totally felt like "You Might Be a Redneck If...." but I took Audrie to Walmart with only her diaper on! (I think I hear DHS knocking at the door right now.) I did have a baby blanket wrapped around her at least, so she wasn't cold, but I still felt like a pretty bad momma! You can click below to hear Audrie's side of the story.

random

When we first moved into our house two years ago we started to notice that we had a groundhog that lived in our backyard. We would see him every once in awhile scurrying out of his little hole in the ground. Jamie affectionately named it "Carl" (Cave Springs Carl is his full name). But yesterday evening Carl got brave and came up on our back deck!

In a weird little way... he's kind of cute!

doctor update

Jamie took Audrie for her two month doctor visit today. She is now a whopping 11 lbs, 9 oz and 22 1/2 inches. (In the 50% percentile for her age.) The doctor said she looks great and is a very strong baby (from all the mini-baby workouts... ha!). She also got her vaccination shots today and I think it was harder on Jamie than Audrie. But she doesn't seem too sad about it and has been a happy baby all evening.

hobbies R us

Even with the new adventures in parenthood, Jamie and I still try to find time for some of our favorite hobbies.

I've had fun all this week working on a scrapbooking project for my mom's birthday. Since we gave up our office for the nursery I have to drag all my supplies out in the living room floor. And for some strange reason our cat (who normally ignores me) loves to sit right next to me every time I scrapbook.

And Jamie has played in several tennis tournaments lately. The weather was amazing this weekend so Audrie and I went and cheered him on.

But now with this recent addition to our garage, I think we'll both have a new hobby... lawnmower racing!

(yes, Jamie is driving the new lawnmower down the street...)

I just did donuts in the driveway. That's all the excitement I could handle.

sweet baby boy

My brother and his wife had their sweet little boy, Matthew, this morning. (I guess not too "little" since he was 9 pounds 1 oz and almost 22 inches long.) He is way too cute and I loved holding him and remembering how small Audrie was when she was "young". :)

I don't know if you can tell in this picture but Matthew has really big hands.

My brother got to change his boy's very first diaper.

Welcome to the family, baby Matthew!

(And there were twin baby girls in the nursery that I just had to snap a photo of... too cute!)

double trouble

Only 8 weeks old and Audrie had TWO hot dates yesterday!

Every Wednesday I get together with my friends Jenny and Emily for lunch and some gab time. Usually Audrie sleeps the whole time, but yesterday she was awake enough to play with Jenny's super cute little boy, Cole (who is 3 weeks older than Audrie).

Baby Ben needs to hurry and come out and play...

And then last night our friends Josh and Carrie came over for dinner and brought their adorable 1 yr old little boy, Collin, to "play" with Audrie.

Josh passed on some "fatherly wisdom" to Jamie. (I'm not really sure what happened to Audrie's face in this photo.)

We were hoping Collin would help baby proof our house and tear some things up, but the best he could do was throw some potatoes on the floor. Maybe next time we can give him and Audrie some crayons and let them draw on the wall or something...

Audrie wouldn't share her pacifier with Collin (not on the first date...)! :-)

a day with the girls

I decided Audrie needed some girl time so I invited my niece, Emma, and our neighbor's daughter, Kyla, over for a few hours yesterday afternoon. It really was a lot of fun and I got a little glimpse into what life could be like after a few more babies.

I love this picture because it looks like Audrie is taking charge and laying out the plan for the day... "ok, first we're gonna spit up all over our clothes and then..."

I have a stuffed animal goat puppet that sings "The Lonely Goatherd" from the Sound of Music. And Emma was hilarious singing along with it for Audrie.

I think Kyla's face in this photo is a little unsure about Emma and the crazy singing goat! (Audrie loves it!)

The girls had fun making up songs on our piano.

Emma was a good little teacher (even clapping for Kyla in this photo).

And what would a girl's day be without making cookies?!

... and pouring half a bottle of pink sprinkles on every cookie!

Sugar and spice and everything nice. That's what little girl's are made of!
